Our Story

finnesterre (meaning "Land's End") opened in 2011 and quickly became a popular stop on Manzanita's Laneda Avenue, adored by visitors and locals alike.

Founder Terri Desaro established finnesterre's signature aesthetic of casual elegance still seen in every item sold, from jewelry to salt cellars, little bowls and spoons, and luxurious throws and pillows. Fred Kassab joined Terri as partner in 2014, bringing his own creative vision to the store. In July 2022, finnesterre opened under the ownership of Ann Maizel, who had been finnesterre's manager since 2017.

finnesterre brings to the north Oregon coast a carefully curated selection of home décor, tools for entertaining, jewelry, art, and soft goods. We regularly highlight work from independent Northwest artists and makers (several of whom are from Manzanita's substantial pool of artistic talent!) and enjoy the personal relationships we've developed with them.

finnesterre is also proud to be an ardent financial and volunteer supporter of local non-profit organizations, schools, and other worthy local causes.

  • Ann Maizel

    OWNER

Ann Maizel first joined the finnesterre team in 2016 and was quickly promoted to manager in 2017. Her outgoing personality, tough love, and excellent organizational skills endeared her to customers and made her indispensable to Terri Desaro and Fred Kassab, finnesterre's former owners. Ann became the sole owner of finnesterre in July 2022.

Before moving to the the Oregon coast, Ann enjoyed a robust career in music as a choir director, music teacher, and manager of the Portland Youth Philharmonic. Her love of ceramics, plants, and unique jewelry led her to finnesterre, which she quickly identified as her "dream" place to work. She lives in Manzanita with her husband, Mark, and their dogs, Bentley and Chloe.
